FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The dynamic and rapid events surrounding the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus has led the City to take a course of action with the health and safety of our residents and employees in mind. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), the best way to prevent illnesses is to avoid close contact with people who are sick and to put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. At this point, there are no reported or confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Eastpointe. As other services are affected by the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus, this list will be updated. The following precautionary steps have been taken by the City of Eastpointe: Until further notice, the Department of Public Works (DPW) personnel will not enter homes to provide services and will observe the CDC's 6-foot distance recommendation when communicating in person with the public. The DPW Department has canceled all water meter appointments from March 16 through March 27. A decision about further cancelations will be communicated on at a later date. All other Water & Sewer customer services are business as usual. Please contact the DPW Department at (586) 445-5053 if you experience a water or sewerage emergency. The Treasurer's office will remain open to accept payments at the counter of City Hall; however, the City recommends using the Drop Box located outside the City Hall Main Entrance. The Drop Box is open 24/7. Please do not deposit cash in the Drop Box. For safety and convenience, customers can utilize our online payment system. E-check payments are free, credit and debit cards incur a 2.95% service fee charged by our vendor. Access the payment page at https://bsaonline.com/?uid=255&sitetransition=true The Building Department is limiting some inspections. Call (586) 445-3661 with questions regarding setting up your appointments. As of today, the Recreational Authority of Roseville & Eastpointe (RARE) will be closed until Sunday, April 5th, 2020. Please contact RARE directly at (586) 445-5480 if you have questions.
