The Building Official is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the City Manager. The Building Department is located inside City Hall at 23200 Gratiot.
Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CLOSED FRIDAY.

MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY
The Building Department's mission is to enforce the adopted codes regarding the construction and maintenance of buildings and structures in order to provide for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Eastpointe. To this end, the Building Department will strive for excellence in educating its employees to provide quality inspections and customer service.
Statement of Philosophy
The purpose of the Building Department is to preserve the viability and stability of the business and residential districts and to prevent deterioration and blighting influences within the community. This directive greatly benefits both the business owners and the residents of the City of Eastpointe by ensuring that structures meet the minimum acceptable standards, and that businesses can operate in a profitable manner. By requiring clean, safe and structurally sound buildings and by promoting code compliant businesses, the Eastpointe business district will prove an attractive destination for visitors and residents alike. It is to the benefit of all to accommodate the requests of the Eastpointe Building Department and to support their efforts to ensure and protect your property investment.
